On last week’s inaugural Write Stuff, we discussed celebrating your Inner Princess. Thanks to the lovely ladies who joined in the fun. Good to know I’m not the only princess in town!
This week’s Write Stuff theme is “Wishlist”. I’d love to hear all about what’s on your wishlist!
I’m going to take it for granted that we all wish for an end to world hunger, an immediate cessation of all war resulting in world peace and, let’s be honest here, thinner thighs. (With thanks to Bridget Jones.)
I’d really like to know what lovely things are on your wishlist. Do you have a hankering for a handbag? Are you longing for a luxury label? Will your life be complete once you have located the perfect shade of red lipstick?
Just quietly, you’d be helping me out, girls. I need some inspiration for my own wishlist, with my birthday coming up in August. We start preparing early for Birthday Festivals around here!
I had three things on my wishlist recently – ankle boots, an every day nude lipstick and products for the perfect DIY mani.
I wanted ankle boots for work and play that are comfortable yet chic with a walkable heel, had to be leather, maybe black, but not made of suede, not hideously expensive and don’t give me sausage legs. That’s a lot to ask from a shoe!
I finally found boot nirvana at Seed Femme. Black, with a comfortable block heel, complete with zipper tassels. Even better, they were on sale with an extra 20% off. I luff them!
Next on my wanted list was a lipstick. I wanted a shiny but not glossy, pink but not lolly, nude but not brown lipstick that also was moisturising and lasted. The lipstick you wear when you’re not wearing lipstick – you know what I mean! Rosemary from Lashes and Lattes and Melinda from Shop Me Chic have been telling me for a while that Face of Australia was worth a look, particularly the Lychee Crush lipstick. I have to admit, I checked it out. Twice. But I thought it was too pale for me. So glad I finally bit the bullet and bought it, because it’s perfect! I adore that it even has that old school lipstick scent and flavour.
Finally, on my wishlist was perfect nails. Since that is never going to happen for me, the next best thing was the perfect DIY home manicure. I’m fed up with spending money on manicures that chip within hours and leave me with cut cuticles (I hate that). Sonia posted Happy Hands on the fab Shop Me Chic and Tamsin posted the excellent Paint Your Nails, which I’ve renamed the Mani-festo. See what I did there?
Following this excellent advice, I bought myself an OPI buffing block and actually learnt how to use it properly. I bought OPI Chip Skip – dear gods, this stuff is so good they ought to bottle it! Oh wait …
I treated myself to the prettiest selection of New York City Ballet nail polish and I gave myself the perfect DIY mani. Yes, I did. Couldn’t stop looking at my nails!
It lasted. And then lasted a bit more. The first signs of chipping were on Friday, which is amaze balls considering I completed the manicure the previous Saturday. I think if I’d remembered topcoat (oops, rookie mistake), it might have even lasted a whole week. Unheard of for me and my very weak nails.
So, apart from the obvious things like fifteen hundred dollars worth of Burberry trench goodness, a Cartier Tank watch and a vintage Mercedes convertible, my wishlist is surprisingly bereft, empty and in need of inspiration.
I’d absolutely love to steal some inspiration from your wishlists!
