What I Wore this Weekend : Desert Boots

I’m linking up with the gorgeous Lauren at The Surprise Beginning for her Really Really Ridiculously Good Looking Monday blog hop.  Lauren is inviting bloggers to link up a post about fashion or beauty and share some comment love, bless her little cotton socks.

What I wore this weekend was centred around these little babies – meet my new BFFs.  My gorgeous Laura Ashley for Campers Original Desert Boots.  $150 down to $70, down to $35!  Love a bargain from Birkenhead Point outlet centre.

I took them for a little walk on Saturday.  I wore them with Country Road leather trimmed ponte pants, thrifted from my fabulous local Red Cross.

They went to the Rozelle Markets with me, where I found a few more treasures, like a Charles & Di silver souvenir teaspoon, a Welsh dragon Poole pottery little plate, and some fabulous books.  I also bought a beautiful woollen Natasha classic black dress and a green silk velvet scarf, both for $20.

Did you know that April 29 is Charles and Diana’s wedding anniversary?

On Sunday, they went for another little walk.  We were heading to the bakery for some sourdough, coffee and hot chocolate, when Boyo decided we’d go to the markets again.

I bought the most beautiful lace beaded collar for a tenner, and scored a vintage Christian Dior silk scarf in navy blue for a fiver.  I have this scarf already in cream and brown, which I wore in the Fox in Flats Hair Dare.

Look at me with a tan.  Yes, that is a tan.  I love winter dressing with its snuggly layers and luxurious textures – leather, cashmere, velvet, silk, merino and cord.  I’ve had a really difficult winter with continual sinus infections, so this year, I’m looking forward to some summer sunshine.  I want to wear this Country Road colour blocked top with yellows, green and orange again, and drink fruity cocktails in the afternoon.

Look at how pretty this little lace and beaded collar is.  It’s reversible too – with a plain lace side.  These are all over the international magazines and blogs, but proving increasingly difficult to actually buy.  Of course, now I’ve said that, I’ll see them in every shop window on my walk to work tomorrow.

That’s what I wore this weekend (and what I thrifted this weekend).  What did you wear?

I think that was your favourite hair look from the Fox in Flats post, Rachel? That scarf goes everywhere with me as soon as it is remotely cold enough to whip out again. It is huge, and the cashmere means it is really snuggly soft. I think I’ve had it since 1999 or 2000 when the Nova check was all the rage. The Welshman was overseas on business and brought me back the Burberry scarf, but he wanted to get something different than the ubiquitous Nova check. I’m so glad he did! He also bought me a Burberry makeup purse around the same time that I still use on a daily basis. On a cost per wear basis, I now owe these pieces money! :)
