What I Wore : Date Night

What I Wore : Date Night

The Welshman and I had a date night on the first day of Spring.  It was the final event in the Festival of Kimba, spoilt brat that I am.  We had tickets to see Wil Anderson, with enough time for a quick drink first and Chinese dinner afterwards.  Boyo was in seventh heaven, knowing his lovely babysitter was coming to spend the evening with him.

Now, don’t get me wrong.  I love fancy pants date nights, when high heels and posh frocks are de rigueur for a celebrity chef hatted restaurant and a chic cocktail menu  I adore them – the opportunity to frock up is one that doesn’t come around very often as parents of a small child.

However, the fun of a casual date night where you can wear jeans, a nice top and shoes you can walk in cannot be underestimated.  It’s great fun to have a night of cheap eats at the Golden Palace, beers bigger than the Welshman’s head at the Bavarian Bier Cafe, and lots of laughs with the hilarious (and swoon worthy, just quietly) Wil Anderson performing his sell out Wilarious show.  I have to tell you, it’s the only way they’ll ever get me back to the wasteland formerly known as Fox Studios.

I had a bit of a blogger fail and this is the only photo of my outfit, thanks to the charms of a drunken Welshman.

I did, however, manage to snap a pic of my gorgeous Mimco Decadence sequin clutch in Shiraz.  Let’s just pretend it’s not hanging on the back of a loo door, shall we.  Keeping it classy here.

Thanks to the charms of Polyvore, I’ve put together a similar look.  I teamed animal skinny jeans with a black wool mini dress, sequinned clutch, statement earrings and black ankle boots.  It may have been the first day of Spring, but it was still cold enough at night to need a warm layer or two.

How much fun are date nights?  I love the casual fun ones as much as the fancy pants ones.  What about you?

They say that once you have kids, you shouldn’t spend date night talking about them. But he’s such a big part of our life – we adore talking about him. Date Night rocks! x

We only do casual – if we can’t do casual we don’t do it !!!! We’ve never been one to dress up much and while sometimes I regret it, most of the time I am happy in my jeans.
Have the best day and glad you had such a great date night !

Casual or frocked up fab, any date night is good! They are so rare in Chez Abulous. Glad you had a great night at Fox Studios. I prefer to call the place the “money sink hole”.
