I popped in to my local Red Cross this week for some op shopping and styling fun. I adore op shopping – I love the thrill of uncovering buried treasure, discovering a piece that isn’t available in all the chain stores, and the excitement of the hunt! Knowing that I’m getting a bargain at the same time that I’m helping to fund charity operations, as well as being environmentally friendly and saving landfill space, makes me happy. What’s not to love about op shopping?!
I styled two outfits this week – an evening outfit and a casual day look for spring.
I’ve teamed a cotton Country Road short-sleeved cardigan in a classic black and white stripe with some Country Road silk and linen drawstring waist pants, and accessorised with a lovely little Tommy Hilfiger bag. This is a cute casual preppy look, and comfortable to boot. Perfect for running errands or the school run. The top is $15.95, the pants are $25.95 and the bag is $25.95. You could team this with Converse or some cute loafers to continue the preppy theme.
For my evening look, I’ve teamed a classic black jersey v-neck sleeveless dress by Simona with this luxuriously gorgeous Scanlan & Theodore satin shirt dress. I’ve accessorised with a faux fur neck piece in an amazing rich burgundy. Both dresses were under $30 and the neck piece is $19.95. The entire outfit is a truly bargainous $80! No one would ever guess you picked it up in an op shopping trip.
Some other eye-catching pieces:
Right now, if you donate a handbag to your Red Cross, they will reward you with $10 off one of their handbags. Or donate an item of Country Road clothing and be rewarded with a $10 voucher for your next Country Road purchase. How good is that! Get thee to your local Red Cross, and get op shopping!
Do you love op shopping as much as I do? I’d love to hear about your op shopping experiences.
