Frocktober Kickoff : Day 1

Frocktober Kickoff : Day 1

Hey, pinch and a punch for the first of the month!  It’s 1 October today, thereby officially kicking off my Frocktober fundraising effort.  Frocktober is raising money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation – a terribly important cause, I think we’d all agree.

You can check out my Everyday Hero Kimba Likes fundraising page, which will track my efforts to reach my fundraising goal of $500.  Thank you so much to the gorgeous and generous souls who have made a contribution.  Love your work!

I’m going to try very, very hard to wear a different frock every single day of Frocktober.  I’ve been attempting some wardrobe planning to make sure I can carry this ambitious goal off, but spring can be a little unpredictable on the weather front.  I’m worried I might wind up with a week of unexpected very hot or very cold weather and only have unworn frocks from the opposite season!  Oh well, just adds to the fun, doesn’t it.

It is easy peasy lemon squeezy to winterise a summer dress with the addition of a long sleeved tee, leggings and a cardigan, but considerably more difficult to wear a winter frock on a hot summery day!

Betsey Bicycle is equipped for Frocktober with a built in frockguard

I faced my first challenge today when we decided to go for a family bike ride, and had to come up with a dress that I could wear on my beloved Betsey Bicycle.  Could I be safe and comfortable, yet fulfil the Frocktober requirement?

I decided to team a lovely floaty French Connection blue print dress with ink navy ponte leather-trimmed leggings from Country Road.  I wore cream Camper loafers for the bike riding, and peach snakeskin Dotti flats for the pottering that consumed the rest of our day.  Oh, and my ever-so-stylish pink helmet of course!  That was for the sex appeal.  And bike riding.  Obviously.

Rock on with your frock on!
