Frocktober Day 30 and Sydney turned on a little sunshine to try and cheer up this grumpy girl with a sprained back. There were a few challenges in putting together today’s outfit. I needed a dress that would cover my rather attractively taped back, yet also work with supportive flat shoes. As I’m unable to lift my arms over my head, I also needed a suitably large and bonkers hair accessory to disguise the fact that I haven’t washed my hair since Saturday. Ewwwww.
The frock du jour is a black and white printed chiffon tiered dress from Portmans, with lovely fluttery sleeves. a cross over bodice with a bit of a ruffle and an empire line. There is a lot going on in one little frock! It was thrifted from a second hand shop for $12 or so.
I’ve teamed it with a Country Road black cotton slip, fuchsia Leona Edmiston Pins and a jade green Jigsaw satin belt. I like the unexpectedness of the jade, which is keeping my outfit from being too matchy matchy. The comfy shoes are my metallic old gold Ziera ballet pumps. They definitely fulfilled the brief. Oh, I love my granny shoes!
I’m participating in an Instagram challenge – 7 days of Selfies with Bloss Heart Blog. You should go and check it out under the #7daysofselfies hashtag.
I’m wearing Catalina Geo BB cream, Illamasqua Skinbase, Napoleon Perdis The One concealer and Estee Lauder Disappear concealer as an inner eye highlighter, because my YSL Touche Eclat died this morning. I miss her. I’ve popped some Bobbi Brown Pink Peony Blush on my cheeks, and highlighted with BECCA Pressed Shimmer Powder in Angel. My brows are defined with MAC Lingering brow pencil.
I’ve made up my eyes with a matte peachy Napoleon Perdis shadow and China Doll liner in Bronze, and my favourite Estee Lauder Double Wear mascara. My lips are popping with BECCA Ultimate Colour Gloss in Flamingo Crush.
After enjoying Shop Me Chic’s Pink Ribbon Week activities last week, I’m still enjoying adding pops of pink to my outfit. Love this gorgeous Caterina enamel bangle from Luxe by Lulu’s Amalfi collection. Only $15! So many gorgeous pieces on site. So hard to choose.
The dirty hair dilemma was sorted by loads of dry shampoo, a good boar bristle brushing and a totally distracting completely OTT black satin hairbow with pearl, diamante and silver ball details from Tie Rack. Yes, really. My onyx drop earrings coordinated beautifully.
At the last minute this morning, I discovered Andrea from Fox in Flats had set one of her famous Style Dares – a one off special. Breakfast at Tiffany’s Dare! It was too late to change my frock, but I figured that my lovely black satin hairbow with pearls had a touch of Breakfast at Tiffany’s about it. Check out #BreakfastatTiffanysDare on Instagram!
My little H&M cropped swing jacket definitely has a 60s flair too.
Day 30 of Frocktober and I’m still in agony from my sprained back. My outfit is cheering me up with pops of pink and a swishy skirt, as I’m keeping on frocking on and raising money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.
You can check out my Everyday Hero Kimba Likes fundraising page, which is tracking my efforts to reach my fundraising goal of $500. Thank you so much to the gorgeous and generous souls who have made a contribution. Only $100 to go. I’m unbelievably grateful. Love your work!
