Frocktober 2012 : Rock on with your Frock on

Frocktober 2012 : Rock on with your Frock on

It’s a well known fact that I love to rock a frock.  They are the ultimate in lazy girl style.  No fretting about coordinating, or worrying about waistband issues – just whack a frock on and you’re done!  Maximum impact for minimum effort – I like it!

You can check out my tips on how to Rock Your Frock on Fox in Flats.   I wore a week of Leona Edmiston earlier this year, including many of my favourite frocks.  Oh, how I do love a frock!

This year, I’m getting on board with Frocktober, the fundraising initiative for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.  This is a fundraising cause that I also like to support with the annual White Shirt Day every May.   Ovarian cancer is known as the silent killer and the OCRF are doing vital work in the area of early detection.

I’m going to wear a frock for every day of Frocktober 2012.  Every.  Single.  Day.  I am going to wear tunic dresses, shirt dresses, wiggle dresses, tailored dresses, Leona frocks, casual dresses, shift dresses, party frocks, maxi dresses, ruched dresses, wrap dresses, sun frocks … you name, I’ll wear it.

Remember Leona Week, where I wore Leona Edmiston every day for a week?  Well, I’m bringing it back baby.  I’m going to wear Leona Edmiston frocks for a week in October, as part of my Frocktober Extravaganza, and I’d love for you to join me for a day or more.  I have to confess, most of my Leona frocks are from their vintage boutiques, bought on drastic clearance or picked up for a song from op shops and market stalls.  Can’t resist a bargain!

I have my own Everyday Hero fundraising page.  If you could spare a few dollars, I’d really appreciate your support.  Check out the widget on my sidebar.  I’m aiming to raise $500 for this fantastic cause.

So, who is going to rock on with their frock on with me, and raise some much needed funds for OCRF?

How did you get on, Laura? Just go to your Widgets from your Dashboard and drag across the Text box to where you want it on your sidebar. Open up the Text box and copy in the HTML code from your Everyday Hero page. Voila! x

  • Danya Banya

Love this idea! Sadly I don’t have enough breastfeeding friendly frocks to join in this year – maybe next year :) xxx Danya (Danya Banya)

It’s a great cause and as you say, always next year :)

Go, you! And what an awesome cause!!! I love a good frock! Might have to join in. Don’t have any Leona Edmiston but have invested in some pretty ones for spring :) x

  • Housewife in Heels

I love this challenge, although am still breastfeeding so can’t participate… Look forward to the results!

Yup, dresses not always easy to whip the milk bar out in, are they!

I’ve been thinking more about it and I’M IN! x

    • http://kimbalikes.com Kim-Marie Williams

      OH YAY! :)

Frocktober was made for you, my dear so you can showcase all your wonderful Leona.
Thanks for doing this – my Mum had ovarian cancer and died from it in 2001.

    • http://kimbalikes.com Kim-Marie Williams

Oh, I’m sorry to hear that gorgeous girl. I think it’s a very important cause and I’m happy to be doing my little bit. x

I love dresses, but I just don’t have enough of them – I’d run out in less than a week. Maybe this fundraising challenge is the perfect excuse to buy a dozen new dresses.

    • http://kimbalikes.com Kim-Marie Williams

Some people have done this before wearing a different dress every day for a month, and some have done it wearing the same dress. I think I could probably do the former but I probably won’t. I’d wind up with a winter frock to wear on a hot day or something! Far be it for me to be an enabler, but a new dress or three might be a nice idea! :)

Lisa from Mummy’s Undeserved Blessings did this last year, while pregnant, and dressed her girls in dresses too! It was a lot of fun to watch. I’m excited to see your spin on it, since you’re such a fashionista.
Also, you’ll be happy to know I just bought myself a new dress on line. Can’t wait for it to arrive. :)

    • http://kimbalikes.com Kim-Marie Williams

Oh yes, I saw that last year. Very impressed! And well done you. Can’t wait to see it! x

  • http://twitter.com/CoTaaB Catherine RodieBlagg

I’m so tempted to join in – I love a frock too and it’s a really great cause. I’m not sure I have enough frocks (that fit anyway). Will have to give it some thought! x

    • http://kimbalikes.com Kim-Marie Williams

There are 31 days in October, so that’s enough time to wash a frock or two and recycle your wardrobe! x

  • Rita

What a fun challenge and what a great cause. I was known to be the queen of dresses in another life!

    • http://kimbalikes.com Kim-Marie Williams

Ooh, what a fab thing to be known for, Rita.

  • mumabulous

I prefer Frocktober to Ocsober! Respect for making supporting a great cause, great fun. All the very best of luck. Mumabulous

    • http://kimbalikes.com Kim-Marie Williams

Gods yes. I spent most of winter sober as I was so ill. Am more than making up for it with Ding a Ling Spring!

I’m rocking a frock today! Maroon with white polka dots. I’ve gotten into the spirit a few days early – oh well, any excuse to wear a dress :)

    • http://kimbalikes.com Kim-Marie Williams

Ooh, I like that sound of that! x

A dress is an instant outfit – that a line to be quoted. Expect to see that in print soon! x Oh and thank you so much for the donation, bless your little cotton socks x
