BECCA Cosmetics : Dethroned Collection Review

dethroned copy

I absolutely adore BECCA Cosmetics.  I discovered them quite a few years ago and have a been a huge fan ever since.  My client card is several pages long and has VIP – LOVES BECCA written on the front (which always gives me a giggle!).

Recently, I was invited to have my makeup done using the new BECCA Cosmetics Dethroned Collection.  As BECCA says – “be inspired by the bold look of regal elegance”.

After more than ten years, the BECCA Cosmetics product range is having a bit of a shakeup.  There will be three major lines of products which will work back together.  The Dethroned Collection features two of these – Ultimates and Perfectors.

The Dethroned Collection introduces BECCA’s first matte lipstick – the Ultimate Matte Lip Colour in eight bold and dramatic colours.  The Dethroned Collection also offers four fabulous shades in another new product – the Ultimate Creme Eyeliner.

Two Perfector products also make up part of the Dethroned Collection – the Lip Priming Perfector and the Eye Priming Perfector.  We were so busy catching up and chatting, as well as me oohing and aahing over the new colours that we completely forgot to use the Eye Priming Perfector when having my makeup done, but the Lip Priming Perfector is, well, perfection!  Packed with Hyaluronic Filling Spheres to plump the lips, and Hypocire A (no, I don’t know what that means either) to smooth and hydrate the lips, it helped my lipstick last the distance.  Now that I’m fast approaching my Big Four Oh My Gods, looking after my lips is even more important.  Laugh lines can be adorable.  Lip wrinkles filled with encroaching colour?  Not so much.

Camelot

To complete the Dethroned Collection, there is a gorgeous dove grey nail colour named Camelot.  Tres elegant!

Ultimate Matte Lip Colour

BECCA says:

This high-impact lipstick imparts rich, intense colour with a creamy, ultra-matte finish. Hydrating formula glides on comfortably and stays in place.

Kimba Likes says:

I think there is nothing more glam than something unexpected and a bold matte lip in the summer fits the bill perfectly.  This looks like a matte but feels like a cream, and it lasts and lasts.  Long wear lippies don’t tend to be comfy but BECCA got this formulation bang on.  So easy to apply too.  I’m a big fan.

Ultimate Creme Eyeliner

BECCA says:

Colour-rich and long-wearing, this versatile formula lays down with the precision of a liquid liner and the ease of a cream. Brush on smooth, dramatic strokes, smudge for a smokey kajal effect or glide over lids as intense shadow.

Kimba Likes says:

I couldn’t resist the luxurious tones of Renaissance, a matte brown, with hints of plum undertones.  It is so easy to apply with a variety of different eyeliner brushes.  The ones I tend to use are a little angled liner brush for along the lash line, in a push and wiggle motion, followed by a smudger brush to blend the colour.  The matte colours can be worn on the waterline.  A really fabulous and versatile product in such rich bejewelled colours.

The lovely Megan made me up with Radiant Skin Foundation in Sand.  Turns out I might have picked up a bit of colour over the summer!  She set the foundation with Mineral Powder in Bliss, and hid my imperfections with Praline Compact Concealer.  My eyes were made up with Ultimate Eye Colour Quad in Astro Violet (I have this one and adore it) and Ultimate Creme Eyeliner in Renaissance.  My lips were perfected with the Lip Priming Perfector and made uber glamorous with Ultimate Matte Lip Colour in Josephine.  My look with completed with Mineral Blush in Terracotta and Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone.

See, I am such a good sport, I put in this terrible photo so you could see the gorgeous job Megan did on my eyes. Love the angled colour!

Kimba Likes Keeping It Real Policy:

You can trust Kimba Likes to keep it real.  This is not a sponsored post, and I did not receive any form of product or payment.   I purchased product at full RRP and received a gift with purchase available at David Jones, and a free makeover that was offered to all VIP customers of BECCA at David Jones.  I chose to review this fabulous new BECCA collection because, quite simply, I adore BECCA and I’m very impressed with their new offerings.  You can check out the Kimba Likes Keeping It Real Policy here.

Thanks (or should it be no thanks?) to you, I checked out Becca’s new matte lippy range and got Adele. L-O-V-E it! And then booked in for a free makeover to try out their Beach Tint. Guess what? Yep, got that in watermelon. Such great products. Now I’m hoping they (and other cosmetic brands) drop their prices a little so we can all share the love yeah?

You look fab in these pictures. I love a matte lippy, I have full lips and gloss isn’t as flattering. I hadn’t heard of this range before

It’s a brand set up more than 10 years ago by Rebecca Morrice Williams, who is a makeup artist frustrated by the products she was using, so she created her own! Innovative and paraben etc free. Chic packaging too (I know it’s shallow, but it is important!)

      • http://kimbalikes.com Kim-Marie Williams

Oh, and thank you! x I’ve got full lips too. All those girls who teased me at school are probably getting hideous injections now! ;)

I love the nail polish colour, I would love to try that on my net set of acrylics. I really need to make more effort.. this is embarrassing, but I never remember (be bothered) to put lipstick on even after putting makeup on. Why do I bother at all! Ugh.

    • http://kimbalikes.com Kim-Marie Williams

Nah, that’s not embarrassing. Just a sign of someone who is busy! :) Now if you want to talk about embarrassing, you should see my nails!

I’ve never heard of this range before but it sounds good, those lipsticks look divine, esp the one you’re wearing in the photos.

I must say though, that girl in the first image is so air-brushed I thought she was a Barbie doll when I first clicked over which is a shame.

    #teamIBOT was here!

    • http://kimbalikes.com Kim-Marie Williams

Oh, yes, it is absolutely fabulous stuff. Hmm, she is a little bit airbrushed looking. Maybe some people don’t have underarm wrinkles?!

Becca is ALL THAT!!! I discovered their divine dewy, light sumptuous foundation just before my wedding and I haven’t looked back. Everyone always says how youthful I look when I wear it because it’s so dewy…..little do they know I’m an old bag underneath!

You look lovely! The model at the top looks like a barbie doll though …

    • http://kimbalikes.com Kim-Marie Williams

Why, thank you Janet. Yes, she is a little processed.

Aren’t those colours divine. I love that bright matt lipstick on you. I think I need to hunt down a red one. Rachel xx

I’m really starting to love matte, particularly when it doesn’t feel like the Sahara Desert has landed on your lips! You look awesome in reds x
